Miss Universe 2007 joins the New York commemoration of Wold AIDS Day
Riyo made several appearances around New York in commemoration of World AIDS Day. Her first stop was at APICHA where she took a public HIV test. She was assisted by Sunny Shiroma and Joey Akima of APICHA as she takes a public HIV test. Then makes a few statements about the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness after her HIV test. She also put some Red ribbons on a tree at APICHA memorializing those who have passed away from AIDS then poses with some traditional Polynesian dancers during APICHA's World AIDS Day events. After APICHA. Riyo heads over to the Latino Commission on AIDS and accepts the "Madrina (Godmother) of LCOA" Award from Dennis Deleon, President, and Guillermo Chacon, Vice President of the LCOA. She is their first Japanese Madrina! Riyo discusses her HIV test at APICHA with members of the Latino Commission on AIDS. She hopes people from all communities will continue to be proactive about the pandemic. Riyo signs the LCOA World AIDS Day banner to commemorate the event.
